Michael Jaliman

Michael Jaliman is the Managing Partner at True North Financial LLC which invests in technology companies and provides management consulting services. Michael has advised major corporations, financial institutions and governments on strategic, organizational, technology and economic issues. Earlier he worked at McKinsey & Company as Director of Strategic Planning at KPMG Asia Pacific and Senior Managing Director at Fujitsu Consulting. He was a Senior Adviser at Vantage Partners and Executive Vice President of Twenty-First Century Venture Partners.
During the 2008 financial crisis, Michael worked with the NY Federal Reserve, together with Nouriel Roubini and Rob Kaplan (later President of the Dallas Fed) to successfully convince Treasury Secretary Paulson to use TARP funds to make equity investments in US banks in lieu of purchasing distressed mortgage backed securities. During the Asian financial crisis, Michael led a successful initiative to persuade Republican Congressional leaders in Congress to stop blocking US funding for the IMF.
Michael advised the major political parties in Taiwan, and organized and moderated Taiwan’s first election debate with leaders of the Legislative Yuan and a debate on Constitutional reform with leaders of the National Assembly. Michael was the Democratic Party candidate for the US Congress from Northern Westchester in New York.
Michael worked with notable visionaries including the inventor Buckminster Fuller for whom he lead a program on Strategies for Feeding Humanity, and Dr. Jonas Salk who developed the polio vaccine who asked him to establish the Salk Institute for Applied Creativity to address pressing problems facing humankind.
In 1975, Michael was authorized as a teacher of insight (Vipassana) meditation by Anagarika Munindra after an intensive three year training program in India. In 1976 Michael was authorized to teach in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition by His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, who was one of the meditation teachers of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the head of the Nyingmapa School of Tibetan Buddhism. Michael later taught under the guidance of HH Penor Rinpoche the subsequent head of the Nyingmapa school.
Michael was awarded a BA with honors in economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where at the end of his freshman year he was elected the President of the Student Government and the Chairman of the United Front and led massive anti-war and pro civil rights demonstrations. Michael received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1982 where he founded the HBS Leadership Forum.
Michael has been a close friend and trusted partner of Andreas Karas / Blue Terra since 2009 and there are multiple ventures between Blue Terra and Michael’s companies where the two cooperate and add value. As examples: Michael has been an inexhaustible source of relations for Blue Terra with many of the most important principals of financial groups in New York and he is playing a core role on aligning billionaires for the ultra luxury resort in Bahamas or/and helping with the 256 Network.
