Mr. Chung has a distinguished career as a lawyer in the U.S. and Korea, a senior government official in the U.S. government, a quasi-official role as the Head of Invest KOREA in the Republic of Korea, and as a trusted advisor to many businesses. In recognition of his achievements, he was appointed as an Honorary Ambassador of Foreign investment Promotion for the Republic of Korea in April 2021.
He started practicing law in Los Angeles, California in 1984. He then went on to establishing a law firm in 1986 with John Lim as his partner, and that law firm is now known as LimNexus. He left the law firm to join the Clinton Administration as a presidential appointee at the International Trade Administration, Department of Commerce, for 7 years. He served as the Director of the Advocacy Center for 5 years, advocating the interests of the U.S. businesses around the world and helping them win orders in excess of $100 billion over those 5 years.
After 32 years in the U.S., he moved back to Korea following his service in the U.S. government. In 2006 he was invited to serve as the Head of Invest KOREA, overseeing the inbound foreign direct investment for 4 years and bringing over $10 billion in FDI per year. At the end of 2009 he participated as a member of the Presidential task force to win the nuclear power plant order from the UAE. He made the critical commercial presentation to the UAE government representatives to help win the order.
